PS4 owners will soon be able to ride bikes on their PS4s in order to improve their health.
The company announced the program today at CES.
The goal of the initiative is to provide the “most active” users of the PS4 with the ability to do just that, according to a Microsoft spokesperson.
The program, called PS4S Ride, will allow people to ride bicycles for free.
There are no restrictions on age, gender, or fitness level.
PS4 will be able transmit information from the bike to Microsoft’s Health app and other apps in the future.
In addition to being able to download apps for the PS 4, owners of the new console can also download games and videos from the Xbox One.
The announcement of the program comes amid growing interest in cycling and the idea of the future of public transportation.
The National Cycling Coalition estimates that more than 30 percent of Americans live in neighborhoods that have bike infrastructure, with nearly 30 percent reporting that they cycle regularly.
The goal is to ensure that all users of public transit have the opportunity to use a bike, regardless of age, physical disability, or other factors, according a spokesperson for the program.
