JOE BIDENS APPROACHING his final months in office is set to focus on issues that matter most to the American people.
In a conference call Wednesday with reporters, the vice president said he and Biden would be unveiling their agenda for a full year in the next week or two.
The agenda includes the president’s first 100 days in office, a plan to overhaul the health care system, a national energy policy and a plan for gun control.
It also includes recommendations for reforming the financial industry and addressing climate change.
“The agenda is really designed to provide an opportunity for the American public to have input on the president and vice president and I think that’s the most important thing, is to have a chance to see what the president has been working on, to hear what he has been saying,” Biden said.
Biden said the agenda will address a range of issues that affect everyone, but it will focus on a specific issue.
He said Biden and Biden’s staff will be meeting with the public and lawmakers to discuss the issues, and then it will be presented to the White House Council of Economic Advisers.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us, but I know the American citizen will have a great time hearing from the vice presidents team,” he said.
He also spoke about the health-care overhaul plan and said he has a long list of recommendations on how to improve it.
He said his staff will make recommendations on what kind of benefits the administration is looking to provide to Americans.
“I’m very proud to have the Vice President of the United States as our Secretary of Health and Human Services and I want to make sure we get that done as quickly as possible, and that’s what we’re going to do,” he told reporters.
He did not provide details about the process of the recommendations, but said his team will consult with stakeholders to make them more specific.
The vice president also spoke on the issue of gun control, saying that the country is moving toward a more peaceful society, but he added that there are still “unanswered questions” on the topic.
“There are a lot more questions about how we handle guns in this country than there are about how to do background checks,” he added.
“The president and the vice President have been working very hard to make gun control the number one issue in the president & gop agenda for the next year.”
Biden has taken a harder line on gun control than most other presidents, but many of the people who were killed in the shootings during his administration have been Democrats and liberal activists.
In the aftermath of the Orlando nightclub shooting, Biden said he wanted to focus attention on violence that takes place in our country, not just in places like Orlando.
He also said that the focus should be on the root causes of gun violence, and said his administration would make recommendations to address those.
The president has also been criticized for failing to address gun violence in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Connecticut in 2012.
